Our poets have been recognised in many poetry competitions and awards through the years. Here are some key examples.

In Recognition of Offas Press Poets Achievements

2014

‘Poetry on Loan’ nominated Bright Morning, Jane Seabourne, Black Country Dialectics, Dave Reeves, and The Poetry of Shropshire, Eds. Fletcher & Phelps, as ‘Recommended Reading’ in West Midland libraries.

2014-19

Emma Purshouse was, variously, Slam Champion at Solihull, the Big Bilston Love Slam, the Nailsworth Poetry Festival, Much Wenlock Poetry Festival and the Shambala Festival.

2015-17

Bert Flitcroft chosen as the ‘poet laureate’ of Staffordshire.


2016

Poetry on Loan’ nominated The Nailmakers’ Daughters, Ed. Seabourne, as ‘Recommended Reading’ in West Midland libraries.


2017

Emma Purshouse won 1st prize in the international ‘Making Waves’ poetry competition.


2018

‘Poetry on Loan’ nominated The Poetry of Staffordshire, Eds. Purshouse & Fletcher, Our Beautiful Scars, Jane Seabourne, and The Poetry of the Black Country, Eds. Purshouse, Reeves & Fletcher, as ‘Recommended Reading’ in West Midland libraries.

Nellie Cole’s Bella shortlisted for the Saboteurs’ Pamphlet Prize.


2019

Anne Babbs won 1st Prize in the ‘Poetry on Loan’ poetry competition.


2020-22

Emma Purshouse chosen as ‘poet laureate’ of Wolverhampton.


2020

‘Poetry on Loan’ nominated Ripening Cherries, Eds. Fletcher and Bingham, and Close, Emma Purshouse as ‘Recommended Reading’ in West Midland libraries.


2020

David Bingham won the British Haiku Society Haibun Award and was President of the British Haiku Society from 2020-2022.

Ros Woolner won 1st Prize in the Guernsey International Poetry Competition.

Kuli Kohli chosen as ‘poet laureate’ of Wolverhampton.

John Woodall won the Wolverhampton Literature Festival Slam.

Simon Fletcher was featured poet in The Seventh Quarry magazine (Spring).

Kuli Kohli awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Letters (PhD) by the University of Wolverhampton.

Ten Offa’s titles were chosen as part of a celebration of contemporary West Midlands literature at the Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games, Birmingham.

Ros Woolner was shortlisted for the Women Poets’ Prize (Rebecca Swift Foundation).

Emma Purshouse gained 3rd place in the National Poetry Competition (out of 16,000 plus entries).
