Dr Kuli Kohli was born in Uttar Pradesh in India but has lived in England since 1973.

She lives in Wolverhampton and is married with 3 children. She’s retired from Wolverhampton City Council after working 32 years.

Kuli’s pamphlet, Patchwork, attracted wide attention after she was interviewed by the BBC on their News website. Her story was read by more than 1.7 million people and her appearance on the BBC’s ‘Sunday Morning Live’ was watched by a similar number. A Wonder Woman is her first full collection.

She’s performed at universities in London, Berlin, Liverpool, Wolverhampton and Birmingham and had a special performance at the British Museum in London for the Purple Light Up event celebrating International Disabled Persons Day 2019.

She has been appointed Poet Laureate of Wolverhampton 2022 to 2024. She was awarded an Honorary Doctorate degree, Doctor of Letters, by the University of Wolverhampton in 2022.

She is involved in various local and national projects around the UK. In 2023 she completed a commission with the National Portrait Gallery on a project called UK Citizen Wolverhampton: Punjabi Migration Experiences which was exhibited at Wolverhampton Art Gallery.
