Saturday 3 June : Pant Poetry Writing workshop

Pant Poetry Writing workshop with Kuli Kohli, poet laureate of Wolverhampton and an enthusiastic RSPB member. The theme will be nesting birds and we’ll be taking a gentle walk along the Montgomery Canal, near Llanymynech, to see baby moorhens, ducklings, cygnets and other wild bird chicks, plus a host of other wildlife.

Meet at Pant village hall, Pant, near Oswestry, Shropshire, SY10 9QG, 10am-4pm.

Bring your own lunch and sensible clothing. Refreshments will be provided. Tickets £25/£20. There is ample parking at the hall.

Saturday 10 June : ‘Walsall Festival of Words’

‘Walsall Festival of Words’. Emma Purshouse and Dave Pitt MC a day of music and spoken word in the park 11am-5pm. Offa’s Press poets Gracey Bee and Priyanka Joshi will be performing their work at 11.45am and 1.25pm respectively.

Friday 16 June : ‘Doomsday – A Wednesbury Reckoning’

‘Doomsday – A Wednesbury Reckoning’ 7.30-9pm (doors open 7pm). An evening of song and spoken word curated by Emma Purshouse. Featuring performances from Brendan Hawthorne, Priyanka Joshi, Alex Vann, Heather Wastie, Steve Pottinger, Billy Spakemon, Emma Purshouse, Trudy King, Reaya Seeley, Suzan Spence and David Calcutt. With support from ‘Suzie’s Community Choir – Wednesbury’ at St Bartholomew’s Church, Church Hill, Wednesbury WS10 9DQ.

It’s a minute to midnight on the Doomsday Clock and the spirits of Wednesbury have been called together at The Black Church to state their case for salvation before God. Who should be saved from the Fiery Holes and the Furnaces? Ethelfleida the warrior Queen? John Wesley’s ‘Oss Block? The Tubeworker? The Green Man or the Fighting Cock? An unforgettable evening in a stunning setting. Bring your own cushion because the pews are rock hard!

Free – but there will be collection plates for donations to the church, on exit.
