Tom Allsopp

Tom Allsopp is from Hednesford, Staffordshire. He has taught English, Drama, Film and Media Studies in Staffordshire for sixteen years. A lifelong performer, Tom performed stand-up comedy for a number of years before deciding to concentrate on poetry and still enjoys incorporating humour into his work.

Beginning in his teens, Tom always wrote poetry for his own amusement but didn’t share his work with others. Some soul searching during the pandemic led him to share some of his poetry on YouTube and send work to publishers.

He has been published in an anthology by Harper Collins to raise money for key workers during the pandemic and has two pieces included in In The Sticks, from Offa’s Press.

Alongside his poetical ambitions, Tom is a playwright who has had work staged in theatres in Cannock, Wolverhampton, Birmingham and London.

Tom was one of seven poets featured in New Voices, available from the Offa’s Press shop.
